Purpose: To increase civic engagement, voter registration, and voter participation in the 2020 election at 10 local colleges and universities

Purpose: To produce a daily news program focusing on local government and civic issues

Purpose: To provide up-to-date election information to limit confusion that often leads to young people not voting

Purpose: To disrupt the cycle of political disengagement active in Northern Kentucky, reach out to inactive and marginalized voter groups in the community, and to create a lasting cultural change

$4,000 – Girl Scouts of Western Ohio – Girls for Change: The Community Impact Club & Girl Scout Leadership Conference

Purpose: To pilot the Community Impact Club in 2020 and 2021 and support the 2021 Girl Scout Leadership Conference

Purpose: To support hiring a Climate Policy Lead to help local governments prepare their communities for transformations in transportation, energy and climate, while protecting their most vulnerable populations from the harmful effects of pollution, flooding and heat

Purpose: To engage local high school students who are part of the ESOL program in Cincinnati Public Schools to canvas the neighborhoods in low-response census

$10,000 – Immigrant and Refugee Law Center – Access to Pro Bono Legal Services for Low-Income Immigrant and Refugee Families

Purpose: To increase organizational capacity and enhance IRLC’s ability to leverage its corps of volunteer lawyers to deliver innovative, free legal representation to our community, and to amplify IRLC’s response for children seeking humanitarian relief

$10,000 – Invest in Neighborhoods – Building the Capacity for Sustainable Resident Inclusion and Representation in Community Councils

Purpose: To increase the ability of Cincinnati’s Community Councils to include more residents across a spectrum of age, income, ethnicity, race, sex, and gender orientation that is more representative of the residential make-up of the neighborhoods

$2,500 – Law and Leadership Institute – Cincinnati LLI 2020-21 – Public Sector Exposure and Experiences

Purpose: To provide online internship opportunities and field trips to various legal offices in Hamilton County

$14,000 – League of Women Voters of the Cincinnati Area – Nonpartisan Voter Guides for November 2020 Election – Printed and Online including Social Media expansion

Purpose: To support publishing the League of Women Voters’ Hamilton County Voter Guide and Vote411.org, as well as adapting this information to be shared on social media

Purpose: To update the Model City Charter to more adequately incorporate civic participation, equity, democratic principles and professional practices

$5,000 – Ohio Alliance of YMCAs Foundation – Greater Cincinnati YMCA Youth and Government Program

Purpose: To prepare and motivate students to become active, lifelong citizens through a series of Youth Government sessions at the State Capitol and summer conferences

$10,000 – Ohio Innocence Project – The Ohio Innocence Project/Cincinnati Police Homicide Transparency Audit

Purpose: To review Cincinnati homicides since 2011 with a CODIS database DNA match and determine if a wrongful conviction may have occurred

$10,000 – Peaslee Neighborhood Center – Do Development Differently: Resident Driven Policy for Equity in Development

Purpose: To make development equitable across class and race in our neighborhood and city and to professionally print and distribute the Equitable Development Rubric that has been developed through those efforts

$7,500 – Rise Up News – RISE Newspaper

Purpose: To support and expand the reach of RISE newspaper, which addresses the lack of enrichment programming and reentry assistance at the county jail level by providing those who are incarcerated with solution-based articles, valuable information, and community resources listings

$10,000 – The Greater Cincinnati Complete Count Committee Fund – Greater Cincinnati Counts Census Outreach Program

Purpose: To provide local governments with the resources needed to communicate about the upcoming Census to residents

$8,400 – University of Cincinnati Dept. of Journalism – Holding Government Accountable Through Responsible Reporting

Purpose: To give two students enrolled in UC’s Journalism Department’s Certificate in Political and Public Affairs Reporting program experience working in a community-based media

$2,000 – Woman’s City Club of Greater Cincinnati – 2020 National Speaker Forum

Purpose: To open up the National Speaker Forum with Denise Kiernan to individuals and organizations that would benefit from hearing this presentation but would not be able to attend without free or subsidized tickets
