Purpose: To improve the quality of local governance by helping civic leaders and citizens identify and overcome barriers to effective political discourse on such topics as the National Anthem, immigration, and political correctness

$10,000 – Cincinnati Interfaith Workers Center

Purpose: To advocate and organize both citizens and non-citizens to leverage local government resources for the prevention of family separation and unjust deportation of immigrant community members

$20,000 – Cincinnati Public Radio, WVXU – Local Political and Governmental Reporting

Purpose: To provide accurate, in-depth, nonpartisan coverage of government in the Cincinnati metropolitan area

$5,000 – Fair Elections Center

Purpose: To reach underrepresented communities at colleges and universities to encourage voter registration and democratic engagement

$2,500 – Hamilton County – Office of the County Commissioner

Purpose: To provide an opportunity for a college student to gain first-hand experience working with the County Administrator’s Office of a large urban county

$10,500 – Human Services Chamber of Hamilton County

Purpose: To research and advocate for increased and equitable access to public transportation

$15,000 – Invest in Neighborhoods

Purpose: To convene active citizens, public officials, and community organizations for a day-long series of seminars, workshops, and presentations where Cincinnatians can learn, network, and collaborate to solve problems and improve their neighborhoods

$3,000 – Kids Voting Kentucky

Purpose: To increase participation among first-time voters by providing voter education and mock elections in grades K-12

$2,500 – Law and Leadership Institute

Purpose: To provide internships to the 10th grade students who have enrolled in the Institute’s 4-year, law-based college preparatory program

$5,000 – League of Women Voters of Ohio Education Fund

Purpose: To update the contents of the Know Your Ohio Government handbook and create a Spanish version for the 2020 election

$2,500 – League of Women Voters of the Cincinnati Area

Purpose: To expand the electorate by providing voter registration opportunities at naturalization ceremonies

$5,000 – League of Women Voters of the Cincinnati Area

Purpose: To create and distribute printed and online versions of a nonpartisan voter’s guide to the November 2019 election.

$10,000 – Northern Kentucky University

Purpose: To provide the opportunity for 12 NKU students to work in various governmental capacities, including in the offices of State Representatives in the Kentucky General Assembly

$1,000 – Ohio Innocence Project

Purpose: To support OIP’s mission to free the actually innocent, wrongly convicted Ohio inmates and to advocate for criminal justice reforms, especially to prevent wrongful convictions

$10,000 – Peaslee Neighborhood Center

Purpose: To educate local citizens on political engagement within the Peaslee Neighborhood community through education, outreach, advocacy, and leadership development and by encouraging the use of the Equitable Development Rubric

$7,000 – Seven Hills Neighborhood Houses

Purpose: To provide training and encourage readiness for first-time home buyers

$5,000 – Village of Silverton

Purpose: To support Connecting the Dots, a summit to generate support and planning for the revitalization of Cincinnati’s first suburbs

$1,000 – Woman’s City Club of Greater Cincinnati

Purpose: To support the 2019 National Speaker Forum featuring journalist, author, and Dayton Literary Peace Prize nominee Helen Thorpe

$5,000 – Woven Oak Initiatives

Purpose: To support multiple avenues of civic engagement for residents of Norwood to facilitate working with local government to achieve common goals for the community

Purpose: To expose high school students to the history, structure, and operations of local government and to promote civic literacy and involvement in community service
